Review:

I had read about this film in a newspaper and I decided it is worth watching, no matter how old the film is. Really, why do we have to watch only new stuff? I have a minor passion for 50s, that’s why it was f*cking awesome to enjoy atmosphere that lingers in the film-air. Is Rebel Without A Cause going to be interesting for a man of mould? Sure! Especially for a teen or his parents – these are the main problems the movie.

SCRIPT // Everyone who is going to watch this movie (or any other old movie) should get ready for a slow pace. We have 2 hours of movie, but only 2 days of action inside. Stuff unfolds slowly and highlights the reasons and results, not an action. That doesn’t mean that film is without any action at all, to be honest, I experienced moments when there was a toothy smile on my face or pathetic minutes. Movie digs in feelings, it’s not designed for an always-running person that cannot watch a movie without checking Facebook or Instagram. // MY RATING: 8.

VISUALS // Space, mood, action and whatever they decided to include in the movie looked great! Some of teens’ acts may look strange, but while I was watching the film, I totally believed that it’s true! And I’ve seen a lot of movies where teenagers were hyperbolized and I felt it. But everything was alright here. // MY RATING: 9.

ACTING, CHARACTERS // Movie creators’ goal was to represent a teeneger the way he is, usual and unusual at the same time, not too extraordinary and too interesting TV character. Mission is done successfully: I saw a person whose worries, problems, choices, opinions were natural. And this reality lets everybody to understand their feelings, their decisions, their worries.  // MY RATING: 9.

IDEA // Movies about riotous teenagers are not rarity. Luckily, this movie is well-turned. Maybe it will not find a solution for your everyday headaches, but it will give you an opportunity to see them through TV character’s eyes. Because: when your garden’s identical to your neighbour’s one, you will notice yours flaws only after having a peep at your neighbour’s one

SUMMING UP // I admit that I’m not used to watching quite slow movies like this one (But that doesn’t mean that I like cheap action movies that are faster than a lighting. Oh, no no no). But it’s really easy to forget everything and empathise with the main character, feel the connection between gripping action and emotions.
